KERAJAAN BANTEN GIRANG DAN FORMASI PERDAGANGAN REMPAH DI SELAT SUNDA ABAD X – XVI

Abstract


Banten sejak abad ke-10 telah memainkan peran penting dalam rangkaian formasi sejarah maritim Nusantara karena wilayah ini merupakan salah satu bandar utama dalam jaringan perniagaan bahari baik di Nusantara maupun Asia Tenggara. Hal-hal yang dibahas dalam kajian ini adalah faktor-faktor apakah yang melatarbelakangi terbentuknya Banten Girang hingga mampu menjadi salah satu simpul strategis dalam jaringan perniagaan rempah di kawasan bahari Nusantara? Kemudian seperti apakah pola jaringan perniagaan Banten pada masa Kerajaan Banten Girang? Serta bagaimanakah pengaruh perniagaan lada hitam yang kemudian menjadikan Banten Girang sebagai salah satu pelabuhan utama
perniagaan rempah pada abad ke-10 hingga abad ke-16? Kajian ini dilakukan untuk melihat lebih jauh mengenai perkembangan wilayah Banten yang ternyata telah memiliki peran penting dalam rangkaian formasi sejarah bahari Nusantara sejak abad ke-10. Sumber-sumber yang digunakan sebagian besar merupakan sumber-sumber sekunder yang membahas mengenai Banten maupun keterkaitan Banten dengan wilayah-wilayah lain di sekitarnya baik di kawasan Nusantara maupun Asia. Wilayah Banten pada masa sebelum berdirinya Kesultanan Banten telah memainkan posisi penting dalam arus dan jaringan perdagangan di kawasan perairan Nusantara. Produksi lada hitam dan letak yang strategis dalam jalur perniagaan di Selat Sunda telah menjadikan Banten Girang memperoleh kegemilangan dalam aktifitas perdagangan lintas bahari ketika itu.
